Target Information
Fatty acid synthase (FASN) is a multifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the synthesis of palmitate from acetyl-CoA and malonyl-CoA in the presence of NADPH, producing long-chain saturated fatty acids.
In certain cancer cell lines, FASN has been found to fuse with estrogen receptor-alpha (ER-alpha), forming a chimeric protein where the N-terminus of FAS is fused in-frame with the C-terminus of ER-alpha.
