Product Specific Information
MA1-813 detects CRALBP protein in bovine, human, mouse, non-human primate, and rat samples.
It has been validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence applications.
By Western blot, this antibody detects a 37 kDa protein corresponding to human recombinant CRALBP.
The immunogen used for MA1-813 is purified human recombinant CRALBP.
Target Information
Cellular retinaldehyde-binding protein (CRALBP) plays a key role in the regeneration of 11-cis-retinal for use in rod visual pigments such as opsin and rhodopsin.
After photoisomerization in the rod outer segment, 11-cis-retinal converts to all-trans-retinal and then to all-trans-retinol, which diffuses into the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) to be converted back to 11-cis-retinol and oxidized into 11-cis-retinal—both processes involving CRALBP.
Mutations causing CRALBP dysfunction are associated with visual diseases such as Bothnia dystrophy, retinitis punctata albescens, retinitis pigmentosa, and Newfoundland rod-cone dystrophy.
CRALBP is a known marker for RPE and Müller glial cells of the retina.
