Target Information
EPHB4 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Members of the Eph family play important roles in nervous system development, angiogenesis, and neural synapsis formation and maturation.
Ephrins are divided into two classes:
- Ephrin-A (EFNA): Anchored to the membrane by a glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage
- Ephrin-B (EFNB): Transmembrane proteins
Eph receptors are grouped based on extracellular domain sequence similarity and ligand affinity. Ephrin receptors constitute the largest subgroup of the receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family. EphB4 binds to ephrin-B2 and is essential for vascular development.
