세포 내 위치
Cytoplasm, cell membrane, nucleus, mitochondrion, membrane (lipid-anchor).
Translocates into the nucleus as a monomeric catalytic subunit.
Inactive holoenzyme located in cytoplasm; distributed throughout cytoplasm in meiotically incompetent oocytes.
Associated with mitochondrion during meiotic competence acquisition.
Aggregates around germinal vesicles (GV) at immature GV stage oocytes.
Colocalizes with HSF1 in nuclear stress bodies upon heat shock (PubMed:21085490).
Isoform 2: cell projection (cilium, flagellum), cytoplasmic vesicle (secretory vesicle, acrosome).
Expressed in midpiece region of sperm flagellum (PubMed:10906071).
Colocalizes with MROH2B and TCP11 on acrosome and tail regions in spermatids and spermatozoa.
배경 정보
This gene encodes one of the catalytic subunits of protein kinase A, which exists as a tetrameric holoenzyme with two regulatory and two catalytic subunits in its inactive form.
cAMP induces dissociation of the holoenzyme into regulatory subunit dimers bound to four cAMP and two free monomeric catalytic subunits.
Four different regulatory and three catalytic subunits are identified in humans.
cAMP-dependent phosphorylation by protein kinase A regulates differentiation, proliferation, and apoptosis.
Constitutive activation caused by somatic mutations or genomic duplications involving this gene is associated with adrenal cortex hyperplasia and adenomas, linked to corticotropin-independent Cushing’s syndrome.
