Reg IV는 C-type lectin superfamily 내 regenerating gene family에 속하며, 간, 췌장, 위 및 장 세포의 증식과 분화에 관여합니다. 158개의 아미노산으로 구성된 분비 단백질로, 세포 재생 및 생존에 관여하며 췌장 베타세포의 성장 자극 효과를 나타냅니다. Reg IV는 대장암, 위암, 전립선암 등 다양한 암에서 높은 발현을 보이며, 점액 분비형, 장상피형, 미분화형 등 서로 다른 표현형을 가진 종양 세포에서 발견됩니다.
