Target Information
The AKR1A1 gene encodes a member of the aldo/keto reductase superfamily, which includes over 40 known enzymes and proteins. Also known as aldehyde reductase, this enzyme reduces biogenic and xenobiotic aldehydes and is expressed in virtually all tissues. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, all encoding the same protein.
