Target Information
Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1) is a highly conserved phosphotransferase present in most living cells. It catalyzes the phosphorylation of deoxythymidine using ATP to produce deoxythymidine 5'-phosphate and ADP, thereby participating in DNA synthesis. TK1 is essential for the activity of various antiviral drugs such as azidothymidine (AZT) and is used for hybridoma cell line selection in monoclonal antibody production. TK1 expression correlates with cell proliferation, making it useful in cancer and cell cycle research.
