MMP3 (stromelysin-1)는 peptidase M10A 하위군에 속하는 단백질로, 전구체 형태로 분비되며 세포외 단백질분해효소에 의해 활성화됩니다. 활성화된 효소는 아연 및 칼슘 이온과 결합하며, collagen, gelatin, fibronectin, laminin을 분해하는 metallo-endopeptidase 활성을 가집니다. 상처 치유 및 조직 재형성 등 정상적인 세포 과정에 관여하며, 유전자 변이는 관상동맥 질환과 관련될 수 있습니다.
