Target Information
GAPDH (Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase)는 해당과정(glycolysis)에 관여하는 촉매 효소로, 37 kDa의 동일한 소단위체 4개로 구성된 테트라머 형태로 존재합니다.
이 효소는 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate를 glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate로 환원시키며, NADPH를 보조 인자로 사용합니다.
GAPDH는 해당과정 외에도 DNA 복제, DNA 수선, RNA 수출, 막 융합, 미세소관 결합 등 다양한 세포 기능에 관여합니다. 또한, 세포사멸(apoptosis)과 신경퇴행성 질환의 유전자 발현 조절에도 관련이 있는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
GAPDH는 amyloid precursor protein 및 Huntingtin 단백질과 상호작용하며, 알츠하이머병과 헌팅턴병과 같은 질환 연구에도 활용됩니다. 대부분의 조직에서 높은 수준으로 발현되므로 Western blot에서 단백질 로딩 컨트롤로 자주 사용됩니다.
