Target Information

MAP2K2 (MEK2) is a dual specificity serine/threonine kinase involved in mitogen growth factor signal transduction.
It belongs to a family of kinases that activate ERK1/2 and MAPK enzymes by phosphorylating residues within the TEY motif of the activation loop.
MEK1 and MEK2 are activated by dual phosphorylation on serine 218 and 222, while threonine 292 of MEK1 is phosphorylated by ERK2, forming a negative feedback loop that suppresses MEK1 activation.
