This antibody has specificity for Human CD82/KAI-1.
Target Information
The CD82 gene encodes a membrane glycoprotein that belongs to the transmembrane 4 superfamily. It functions as a metastasis suppressor and its expression is often downregulated during tumor progression. CD82 expression can be activated by p53 through a consensus binding sequence in its promoter region. Expression levels of CD82 and p53 are strongly correlated, and loss of both is associated with poor prognosis in prostate cancer. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
