Target Information

The exosome is involved in various cellular RNA processing and degradation events. DIS3, also known as exosome complex exonuclease RRP44, is a ribonuclease that directly participates in the processing, turnover, and surveillance of numerous RNA species. DIS3 localizes to both the cytoplasm and nucleus and contains one PINc domain. It is widely expressed, with the highest expression in testis, and is essential for processing 7S pre-RNA into a mature nuclear complex, ensuring proper mitotic progression. Abnormal DIS3 expression may be associated with colon cancer, implying a potential role in tumorigenesis.
