Target Information

TRPM2 belongs to the ion transport protein family, including Sodium, Potassium, and Calcium ion channels. These proteins possess six transmembrane helices, with the last two flanking a loop that determines ion selectivity.
TRPM2 is activated by oxidative stress and confers susceptibility to cell death. It functions as a calcium-permeable cation channel regulated by free intracellular ADP-ribose. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of the TRPM2 gene have been described, though their full-length forms are not completely characterized.
