Target Information
The protein encoded by AKT3 (E17K Mutant Specific) is a member of the AKT (PKB) serine/threonine protein kinase family. AKT kinases regulate cell signaling in response to insulin and growth factors and are involved in processes such as:
- Cell proliferation and differentiation
- Apoptosis and tumorigenesis
- Glycogen synthesis and glucose uptake
This kinase is stimulated by PDGF, insulin, and IGF1. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
