Target Information
HIV-1 Gag p24 is a capsid protein that forms the core of the AIDS virus HIV-1. It is produced by digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV-1 protease. The p24 protein is essential for viral particle construction and replication.
It is detectable from the early stage of HIV infection and serves as a marker for monitoring disease progression and treatment efficacy by indicating viral load in blood.
