Target Information
The protein encoded by the PDE1B gene belongs to the cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) family, specifically the PDE1 subfamily. Members of this family are calmodulin-dependent PDEs activated by calcium-calmodulin complexes. PDE1B exhibits dual specificity for cAMP and cGMP, with a preference for cGMP as a substrate. These messengers regulate numerous physiological processes. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been reported.
