BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II 및 histone deacetylase 복합체와 상호작용하며, 전사 조절, 이중가닥 DNA 손상 수리 및 재조합에 관여합니다.
BRCA1 유전자 변이는 유전성 유방암의 약 40%, 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 80% 이상과 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 스플라이싱 변이가 보고되어 있으며, 일부는 질병 관련 돌연변이로 확인되었습니다.
