ADAMTS-1은 ADAMTS (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motif) 단백질 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 프로펩타이드 영역, 메탈로프로테이나제 도메인, 디스인터그린 유사 도메인, 그리고 thrombospondin type 1 (TS) 모티프를 포함합니다.
이 단백질은 두 개의 디스인터그린 루프와 세 개의 C-말단 TS 모티프를 포함하며, 항혈관신생(anti-angiogenic) 활성을 가집니다.
ADAMTS1 유전자의 발현은 염증성 과정 및 암 악액질(cancer cachexia)의 발생과 관련이 있을 수 있으며, 정상적인 성장, 생식능, 장기 형태 및 기능에 필수적인 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
