Target Information
The jagged 1 protein encoded by JAG1 is the human homolog of the Drosophila jagged protein. Human jagged 1 acts as the ligand for the receptor Notch 1, a human homolog of the Drosophila receptor Notch. Mutations in the jagged 1 protein cause Alagille syndrome, and jagged 1–Notch 1 signaling is implicated in hematopoiesis.
