Target Information
CRTH2 (GPR44) is a chemoattractant receptor-homologous molecule expressed on Th2 cells and serves as a receptor for prostaglandin D2 (PGD2). It mediates chemotaxis of Th2 cells and eosinophils, playing a key role in allergic responses. Studies in CRTH2 knockout mice indicate that the receptor restricts eosinophilia and allergic inflammation by regulating IL-5 and IL-3 production. CRTH2 is selectively expressed in Th2 lineage cells, as well as in the central nervous system, peripheral tissues, and blood cells. Two transcript variants (3.5 kb and 3.4 kb) have been identified, showing tissue-specific expression patterns. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the 3′ UTR of the CRTH2 gene are associated with asthma susceptibility.
