Target Information
Catalyzes the formation of NAD(+) from nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and ATP.
Can also use the deamidated form, nicotinic acid mononucleotide (NaMN), as substrate with similar efficiency.
Utilizes triazofurin monophosphate (TrMP), GTP, and ITP as nucleotide donors.
Also catalyzes the reverse reaction (pyrophosphorolytic cleavage of NAD(+)).
For this activity, can use NAD(+), NADH, NAAD, NHD, and NGD as substrates, but not NADP(+), NADPH, or NAADP(+).
Protects against axonal degeneration following injury.
