Target Information
WD-repeats are motifs found in a variety of proteins, characterized by a conserved core of 40–60 amino acids forming a tertiary propeller structure. Proteins containing WD-repeats participate in numerous cellular functions such as signal transduction, apoptosis, transcriptional regulation, and cell cycle control. WD repeats serve as sites for protein-protein interaction and help assemble protein complexes.
WDR48 (WD repeat-containing protein 48), also known as USP1-associated factor 1 and p80, is a 677 amino acid protein with eight WD repeats. It regulates deubiquitinating complexes by activating USP1, USP12, and USP46, enhancing catalytic turnover. WDR48 is ubiquitously expressed and mainly localized to the cytoplasm. Five isoforms exist due to alternative splicing events.
