Target Information

These proteins belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that arise from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a seven-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and mediate odorant signal transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature for olfactory receptor genes and proteins is organism-specific and independent of other species.
