Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes native human CCR4 protein expressed in transfected mammalian cells.
Target Information
CCR4 is a chemokine receptor preferentially expressed on type 2 helper T (Th2-type) cells. Unlike other chemokine receptors, CCR4 and CCR8 expression on Th2 cells is transiently increased following TCR and CD28 engagement. Activated Th1 cells also up-regulate CCR4 expression and responsiveness to thymus- and activation-regulated chemokine.
Chemokines are small (approximately 8–14 kD), mostly basic, structurally related molecules that regulate leukocyte trafficking via interactions with 7-transmembrane, G protein-coupled receptors. They play key roles in immune system development, homeostasis, and function, and affect CNS cells and endothelial cells involved in angiogenesis or angiostasis.
Chemokines are divided into two major subfamilies:
- CXC chemokines: Two cysteines separated by a single amino acid
- CC chemokines: Two cysteines adjacent
