Target Information
Keratin multigene family는 ‘soft’ epithelial cytokeratin과 ‘hard’ hair keratin으로 구성됩니다.
Epithelial keratin은 상피의 층화와 형성에 관여하며, hair keratin은 손톱과 머리카락 형성에 관여합니다.
Keratin은 산성(class I)과 염기성/중성(class II) 단백질로 나뉘며, Keratin 84 (KRT84, HB4, KRTHB4)는 600 아미노산으로 구성된 type II keratin 단백질로, 모낭에서 발현되어 type I keratin과 이합체를 형성하여 모발과 손톱을 구성합니다.
KRT84 유전자는 인간 12번 염색체에 위치하며, 이 염색체는 약 1,100개의 유전자를 포함하고 전체 유전체의 약 4.5%를 차지합니다.
염색체 12는 hypochondrogenesis, achondrogenesis, Kniest dysplasia 등 다양한 질환과 관련이 있습니다.
