Target Information
Rb (Retinoblastoma protein) is a tumor suppressor nuclear phosphoprotein that binds DNA and is phosphorylated on serine and threonine residues. It forms complexes with SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and human papillomavirus-16 E. Rb regulates transcription, and loss of its function leads to uncontrolled cell growth. Mutations or aberrations in the RB gene are associated with cancers including breast, colon, prostate, kidney, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and leukemia.
