Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs and Western blots, approximately 50% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Lipin 3 is observed.
- Less than 5% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Lipin 1 and Lipin 2.
- Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS before use.
Target Information
Lipodystrophy in humans is characterized by loss of body fat, fatty liver, hypertriglyceridemia, and insulin resistance. Mice carrying mutations in the fatty liver dystrophy gene exhibit similar phenotypes. The mouse gene responsible for fatty liver dystrophy was isolated and designated Lpin1, encoding a nuclear protein named lipin.
Lpin1 mRNA is highly expressed in adipose tissue and induced during preadipocyte differentiation, indicating its essential role in adipose tissue development and as a candidate gene for human lipodystrophy.

- Human LPIN1: Chromosome 2p25
- Human LPIN2: Chromosome 18p11
- Human LPIN3: Chromosome 20q11–q12
- Mouse Lpin1, Lpin2, and Lpin3: Chromosomes 12, 17, and 2, respectively.
