Target Information
Conjugation of Nedd8 to a cullin protein (neddylation) activates cullin-RING E3 ubiquitin ligases, increasing proteasomal degradation of substrate proteins. DCUN1D5 is one of five human homologues (DCNL1–5) involved in this process. The DCUN1D5 gene encodes a 28 kDa DCUN1 domain-containing protein with a C-terminal potentiating neddylation domain. Recent studies suggest a mono-ubiquitination-mediated mechanism regulating nuclear-cytoplasmic trafficking and activation of cullin-RING E3 ligases in specific compartments.
