Target Information
GADD153 (also known as CHOP) is a small nuclear protein capable of dimerizing with transcription factors C/EBP alpha and beta. This dimerization inhibits normal C/EBP binding and function, while conferring binding activity to non-classical stress-related targets. Under normal conditions, GADD153 is not expressed at detectable levels but is highly upregulated under cellular or ER stress, such as tunicamycin treatment, nutrient starvation, or reducing agents affecting calcium flux across the ER membrane.
