Target Information
TOP2B (DNA Topoisomerase II Beta) is a protein-coding gene encoding a nuclear enzyme that controls DNA topology during transcription and replication. It facilitates chromosome condensation, chromatid separation, and relieves torsional stress by transiently breaking and rejoining DNA strands.
Two isoforms exist due to gene duplication: beta (chromosome 3) and alpha (chromosome 17). TOP2B is a target of several anticancer agents, and mutations may contribute to drug resistance. Reduced enzyme activity may be linked to ataxia-telangiectasia. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
