Target Information
SSB1 is a component of the SOSS complex, which functions downstream of the MRN complex to promote DNA repair and G2/M checkpoint activation.
In the SOSS complex, SSB1 acts as a sensor of single-stranded DNA, binding preferentially to polypyrimidine sequences.
The complex associates with DNA lesions and influences cellular DNA damage responses, including cell-cycle checkpoint activation, recombinational repair, and maintenance of genomic stability.
SSB1 is required for efficient homologous recombination-dependent repair of double-strand breaks (DSBs) and ATM-dependent signaling pathways.
