The epitope recognized by this antibody is reported to be sensitive to formaldehyde fixation and tissue processing. For immunohistochemistry, acetone fixation for frozen sections is recommended.
Target Information
CD26 (dipeptidyl peptidase IV, DPP IV; adenosine deaminase (ADA) binding protein) is a homodimeric atypical serine protease belonging to the prolyl oligopeptidase family. It is expressed on lymphocytes and upregulated during T-cell activation, also found on activated B cells, NK cells, and epithelial tissues.
CD26 participates in:
- T-cell activation
- Cell adhesion with extracellular matrix (fibronectin, collagens)
- HIV infection
It is identical to adenosine deaminase complexing protein-2 and the T-cell activation antigen CD26. CD26 acts as a serine exopeptidase that cleaves X-proline dipeptides from the N-terminus of polypeptides. Alterations in CD26 activity are linked to malignant transformation and correlate with tumor grade and severity. Changes in CD26 density have been observed on circulating monocytes and CD4+ T cells in rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.
