Target Information
TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 are inhibitory enzymes of the matrix metalloproteinase family and are important for maintaining connective tissue integrity.
TIMP-2 binds both latent (pro) and active forms of 72 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-2, gelatinase A), and also the active form of 92 kDa Type IV collagenase (MMP-9, gelatinase B).
It inhibits proteolytic invasiveness of tumor cells and normal placental trophoblast cells.
