Target Information
The CKM gene encodes a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in energy homeostasis. This enzyme catalyzes the reversible transfer of phosphate between ATP and phosphagens such as creatine phosphate. It functions as a homodimer in brain and other tissues, and as a heterodimer with a muscle isozyme in heart. The encoded protein belongs to the ATP:guanido phosphotransferase family. A pseudogene of this gene has been identified.
