Target Information
Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF)는 염색질 응축 및 DNA 절편화를 유도하는 단백질로, 최근에 동정 및 클로닝됨. 세포자멸사(apoptosis)는 핵 내 형태학적 변화(염색질 응축 및 핵 절편화)를 특징으로 하며, 이는 caspase 계열 단백질 및 기타 관련 단백질의 활성화에 의해 유도됨. AIF는 미토콘드리아에 존재하며, apoptosis가 유도되면 핵으로 이동하여 cytochrome c 및 caspase-9의 방출을 유도함. AIF는 인간과 생쥐 간에 높은 보존성을 가지며 광범위하게 발현됨. AIF 유전자 돌연변이는 미토콘드리아 뇌병증을 유발하는 combined oxidative phosphorylation deficiency 6과 관련 있음. 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 전사체 변이가 생성되며, chromosome 10에 관련된 pseudogene이 존재함.
