Target Information
Aquaporin-8 (AQP8) is a water channel protein encoded by the AQP8 gene in humans.
Aquaporins are a family of small integral membrane proteins related to the major intrinsic protein (MIP or AQP0).
AQP8 mRNA is primarily expressed in the pancreas and colon, forming a mercury-sensitive, water-specific channel.
It is not permeable to glycerol or urea and is expressed only in pancreas and colon tissues.
