Target Information
IL-23R is a 629 amino acid subunit of the receptor for cytokine IL23A/IL23. It pairs with IL12RB1 (IL12Rβ1) to mediate IL23A signaling. The protein associates constitutively with Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) and binds to transcription activator STAT3 in a ligand-dependent manner.
Alternative splicing produces six isoforms of IL-23R. Studies suggest IL-23R plays a key role in psoriasis pathogenesis and may be a therapeutic target in inflammatory bowel disease.
