This antibody detects endogenous levels of total KLF15 protein.
Target Information
KLF15 is a nuclear protein belonging to the Sp1 C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family with three C2H2-type zinc fingers. It acts as a transcriptional activator, binding to the GA element of the CLCNKA promoter to regulate tissue- and nephron segment-specific expression of CLCNKA and CLCNKB channel genes.
KLF15 plays a critical role in adipogenesis through regulation of PPARG expression, inhibits cardiac hypertrophy, and participates in pathways regulating cardiac responses to hemodynamic stress. It also controls mitochondrial acetyl-CoA synthase expression in skeletal muscle and may repress rhodopsin and IRBP promoters in the retina, influencing photoreceptor-specific gene expression.
Highly expressed in liver, followed by heart, skeletal muscle, and kidney; not detected in bone marrow or lymphoid tissues.
