Target Information
The collapsin response mediator protein (CRMP) family (also known as ULIP6) comprises neurologic proteins involved in growth cone guidance during neural development. CRMP5 shows relatively low sequence homology with other CRMP family members and is expressed in the developing nervous system, peaking during the first postnatal week. Elevated levels of autoantibody to CRMP5 are associated with paraneoplastic autoimmune optic neuritis and other paraneoplastic neoplasms. Autoimmunity against CRMP5 (especially N-terminal epitopes) is being studied as an oncological marker in the respiratory system and thymus.
