The monoclonal antibody DECMA-1 recognizes mouse, human, and canine CD324 (E-cadherin), also known as Epithelial cadherin or uvomorulin.
E-cadherin is a transmembrane glycoprotein involved in intercellular adhesion, interacting with α-, β-, and γ-catenins and actinins to connect with the cytoskeleton. Expression is found in most epidermal cells, including melanocytes and keratinocytes, and is localized at intercellular boundaries of epithelial tissues, maintaining tissue integrity.
Loss of E-cadherin function is implicated in cancer progression. The protein is sensitive to trypsin; exposure should be minimized or avoided.

The DECMA-1 antibody has demonstrated functional activity in disrupting adhesion in human, mouse, and dog cells.
It is suitable for functional blocking assays and flow cytometric analysis. For flow cytometry, use ≤1 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal staining is achieved by intracellular staining due to variable surface expression. Antibody titration is recommended for best performance.

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail.
Mutations in the CDH1 gene (chromosome 16) are linked to gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian cancers. Loss of E-cadherin function contributes to tumor invasion and metastasis.
E-cadherin also mediates bacterial adhesion and is essential for maintaining tissue architecture and integrity.
