Target Information
The DCTN2 gene encodes a 50-kDa subunit of dynactin, a macromolecular complex composed of 10–11 subunits ranging from 22 to 150 kDa. Dynactin binds to both microtubules and cytoplasmic dynein, participating in multiple cellular processes including ER-to-Golgi transport, lysosome and endosome movement, spindle formation, chromosome movement, nuclear positioning, and axonogenesis. This subunit exists in 4–5 copies per dynactin molecule and contains three short α-helical coiled-coil domains that may mediate interactions with other subunits, including the largest subunit (p150).
