This antibody has specificity for Human IL-5/IL5/Interleukin 5.
Target Information
IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It is a major regulator of eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 production is associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes. The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer whose beta subunit is shared with IL3 and CSF2/GM-CSF receptors. IL-5, IL4, IL13, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5 and are coordinately regulated by long-range elements over 120 kb on chromosome 5q31.
