Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
TGF-β family members are key modulators of cell proliferation, differentiation, matrix synthesis, and apoptosis. BMPs (Bone Morphogenetic Proteins) initiate, promote, and regulate the development, growth, and remodeling of bone and cartilage. Beyond skeletal functions, BMPs also play roles in prenatal development and postnatal growth, remodeling, and maintenance of various tissues and organs.
BMP-5 is expressed in the nervous system, lungs, and liver, and acts as a regulator of dendritic growth in sympathetic neurons. It is a 454 amino acid precursor protein cleaved to release the biologically active C-terminal mature protein.
