Target Information
Rb (Retinoblastoma protein) is a tumor suppressor nuclear phosphoprotein capable of binding to DNA. It is phosphorylated on serine and threonine residues and forms complexes with viral oncoproteins such as SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and HPV-16 E7. Rb regulates transcription, and loss of its function leads to uncontrolled cell growth. Mutations or aberrations in the RB gene are associated with various cancers including breast, colon, prostate, kidney, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and leukemia.
