Target Information
Transcription termination factor that binds to a 28 bp region within the tRNA(Leu(uur)) gene adjacent to and downstream of the 16S rRNA gene. This region includes a tridecamer sequence critical for accurate transcription termination. MTERF1 binds DNA along the major groove, promotes DNA bending, partial unwinding, and base flipping. Termination activity is polarized with highest specificity for transcripts initiated on the light strand.
