배경 (Background)

Nuclear factor kappa B subunit 2 (NFKB2) is a component of the NF-κB transcription factor complex, which regulates genes involved in inflammation and immune function. The encoded protein can act as both a transcriptional activator and repressor depending on its dimerization partner. The full-length p100 protein is co-translationally processed into the active p52 form. Chromosomal rearrangements and translocations of this locus are associated with certain B-cell lymphomas, potentially leading to fusion protein formation. A pseudogene exists on chromosome 18, and alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants. (RefSeq, Dec 2013)
