Background
The protein encoded by this gene is a serine/threonine kinase involved in several signal transduction cascades, including the ERK, JNK, and NF-kappa-B pathways. It is activated by autophosphorylation and requires magnesium as a cofactor for phosphorylating other proteins. The protein possesses E3 ligase activity via a plant homeodomain (PHD) in its N-terminus and phospho-kinase activity via a kinase domain in its C-terminus.
