Translocates to the nucleus upon stimulation of OPRD1 (By similarity).
Background Members of the arrestin/beta-arrestin protein family participate in agonist-mediated desensitization of G-protein-coupled receptors, dampening cellular responses to stimuli such as hormones, neurotransmitters, or sensory signals. Arrestin beta 1 acts as a cofactor in BARK-mediated desensitization of beta-adrenergic receptors. It is expressed at high levels in peripheral blood leukocytes and plays a major role in receptor-mediated immune regulation. Alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described. [RefSeq, Jan 2011]
