The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of proteins containing conserved PDZ and LIM domains. LIM domains function in protein–protein recognition, gene transcription, development, and cytoskeletal interactions.

• The LIM domains bind to protein kinases.
• The PDZ domain binds to actin filaments.
  This gene product participates in the assembly of actin filament-associated complexes essential for mitogenic signaling (ret/ptc2 pathway).
  It likely acts as an adapter, localizing LIM-binding proteins to actin filaments in skeletal and nonmuscle tissues.
  Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
