Target Information

This gene encodes coagulation factor III, a cell surface glycoprotein that initiates the blood coagulation cascade. It functions as the high-affinity receptor for coagulation factor VII, forming a complex that catalyzes the initiation of the protease cascade through limited proteolysis. Unlike other cofactors that circulate as inactive precursors, this factor is fully functional when expressed on cell surfaces. It contains three distinct domains: extracellular, transmembrane, and cytoplasmic. No congenital deficiency has been described for this protein.
